Stay Informed

We constantly monitor the Oregon Legislature and TSPC in order to keep our members informed on the latest laws and policies that effect substitute teachers. We maintain a public Facebook page, publish newsletters and brochures to keep members abreast of educational opportunities, licensure rules, PERS retirement system, and legislation. OSTA brochures on Licensure, PERS Retirement system and Unemployment and information specific to substitute teachers are available to members. 

Stay Current

Each fall in October an annual statewide conference is held, featuring speakers to help and inspire substitute teachers -new curriculum, classroom management, subject area ideas, and problem-solving.

OSTA is currently developing training and content education for all Oregon substitute teachers.

OSTA manages both a Facebook page and a Facebook group. Follow our page to get all the latest information delivered right to your newsfeed. If you are an OSTA member you may also join our Facebook group. Here you can ask questions and get support for your journey as a substitute teacher.

Stay Involved

Executive board meetings are held three or four times a year to plan the fall conference, set priorities, and address issues regarding substitute teachers and the school districts. Any OSTA member is welcome to attend.

Be Recognized

Oregon Substitute Teacher Day is proclaimed each year by the Governor to be during Teacher Appreciation Week in early May.

In addition, our association selects the Oregon Substitute Teacher of the Year from outstanding substitute teachers nominated by their schools throughout Oregon.
