Joey Todd
Joey Todd, OSTA’s 2010 Oregon Substitute Teacher of the Year, comes from the Gresham-Barlow School District. Joey was nominated by Michael Lindbald, from Gresham High School, after doing a six week assignment for him.
Joey started as a substitute teacher in the early 1990’s. By the end of the 1990’s he had become a full time teacher with the Portland Public School District. He was twice elected to the Board of the Portland Association of Teachers. In 2001 he retired from full time teaching and returned to substitute teaching, a job he enjoys.
Although he may call himself an ordinary and average person, the job he does as a substitute teacher fits the word OUTSTANDING. His classrooms are pleasant and productive. Recognition and acceptance are part of his lessons. Wherever he teaches there are smiles and laughte
